While, to date, no character has been seen actually eating them, beans, especially the baked variety, have made numerous appearances.

- The Interview — One of the items on Homestar's "resumé"/grocery list is beans.
- Email helium — Homestar Runner tells Marzipan a story involving pork and beans.
- Email japanese cartoon — Strong Bad compares Stinkoman's head to "a little bean".
- Arcade Game (Easter egg) — Homestar has spent $150 in 2002 on Pork b/w Beans.
- Email big white face — Strong Bad gives the Poopsmith a cake decorated with beans.

- The House That Gave Sucky Tricks — Strong Bad introduces "Large Bean", a slender figure with a large bean for a head sitting on a torn red chair, to be "an entirely new horror icon" and "the new face of terror".
- Large Bean — The horror icon returns in this Skills of an Artist feature.
- Draccus — Strong Bad uses a technique he calls the "Four-Bean Salad" for the facial features of his Draccus drawing.
- Dangeresque Puppet Squad: The Hot Jones Hijack — Dangeresque insists that Hot Jones is usually found between the paper towels and the black beans.
- Trogdor!! The Board Game — One of the item cards is "Two Gross Beans".
