The video portrayed two disgruntled working-class men — Sal and Harv — moving appliances such as refrigerators and televisions while commenting on rock music videos. The Cheat "lifts" himself away much like The Lorax does in the cartoon, and the "unless" podium is a clue to the solution to the tree problem addressed in the story. The pink cloth next to The Cheat when he is first shown is a thneed. It is a fictional, all-purpose item made from the Truffula trees, which the Lorax tries to protect during the story.
