• Toons — A red black-and-white-striped bowling ball bowls a strike.
• Games — A watermelon-colored bowling ball gets a 7-10 split. Scroll again and the ball hits both pins for a spare.
• Characters — The lights dim and each set of bowling pins turns a different color. Then some lighting effects come on, and "The System is Down" plays.
• Downloads — Homestar holds up a ball that looks like Strong Bad's head, twirls it, and puts it back down.
• Store — A bowling ball that looks like a globe falls through the floor, producing a hole that then fades away.
• E-mail — The globe ball rolls slowly down the gutter.

• The 7-10 split, as seen in the "games" option, is the hardest spare to pull off in bowling.

Trivia

• Originally, the "Characters" animation was accompanied by a sample from "Renegade Master '98" by Fatboy Slim. Although it has since been replaced with "The System is Down", the unused "Renegade Master" audio is still hosted on the site.
  • It is unknown when exactly the music was changed. Mike Chapman had acknowledged the need to replace the audio in the summer of 2001. "The System is Down" was first heard in October 2002.

Remarks

• When scrolling over Store, the falling bowling ball makes no sound.

Goofs

• When scrolling over "Store", then "Toons", the hole overlaps the striped ball.

Inside References

• The globe bowling ball is the same image used in Main Page 1 and is similar to the one used in the Theme Song Video.

Real-World References

• The 4-pointed stars on the back wall are similar to the stars seen in the main bowling alley in The Big Lebowski.
• The ball that bowls a strike in the "Toons" effect has the stripe scheme of Eddie Van Halen's "Frankenstrat" guitar.

Fast Forward

• The lighting effects are nearly the same as The Cheat's light raves that he makes with his own special light switch in Strong Bad's computer room, as seen in the email techno, which also includes "The System is Down".
• A similar Frankenstrat-patterned bowling ball appears in Fanstume (singular) '24.
