Y-O-U was a real band that worked with The Brothers Chaps, typically performing as the band Limozeen (with Matt Chapman on vocals). They can be heard on Strong Bad Sings and Other Type Hits and the karaoke tracks on strongbad email.exe; two of those songs were featured on Guitar Hero II ("Trogdor") and Encore ("Because, It's Midnite"). Vocalist Peter Olsen appeared on the DVD commentaries for In Search of the Yello Dello and Shopping For Danger. In 2008, the band helped the Chapmans put on live Limozeen performances on March 27 and November 8. In return, The Brothers Chaps animated the music video for Y-O-U's song "L.A. Lindsay".

Y-O-U released a self-titled album in 2003, sophomore EP "Everything is Shifting" in 2005, and final studio release "Flashlights" in 2007. The members also made the film The Flying Wallabies, a short mockumentary about jump roping. In December 2006, Y-O-U was selected out of over 1,700 artists as one of the Top 25 Best Bands on MySpace by Rolling Stone Magazine. In September 2009, Y-O-U announced its retirement from playing and recording new music; however, its members still play together in other groups, and in 2010, Nick Niespodziani mentioned having recently worked with Strong Bad in a recording studio, though no more details have been released.

Spinoff group Yacht Rock Revue is made up of several former Y-O-U members. Yacht Rock Revue played at the Homestar Runner 20th Anniversary Show on September 2, 2016, and again on October 7.
