A commonly referenced character in the Homestar Runner universe, John McEnroe is a former World No. 1 professional tennis player from the United States. During his career, he won seven Grand Slam singles titles— three at Wimbledon and four at the US Open. He also won nine Grand Slam men's doubles titles and one Grand Slam mixed doubles title. He was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1999. He was noted for his bad temper.

- 3 Times Halloween Funjob — Homestar dresses up as McEnroe for Halloween.
- In an Easter egg, Puppet Homestar is also seen in a McEnroe costume on a tennis court. He parodies McEnroe's famous catchphrase "You cannot be serious!", which he often shouted at Wimbledon umpires in 1981.
- Some Extras — Puppet Homestar is dressed as McEnroe for a short period of time at the beginning.
- Senorial Day — Bubs wears a John McEnroe costume.
- Where's an Egg? — McEnroe is a suspect in the game.
