Edgar Allan Poe is a famous poet known for such suspense poems as The Raven. Strong Sad is often compared to him.

- Email secret identity — Mr. Allan Poe (presumably the secret identity of Strong Sad) has reserved a double room at Bubs' Motor Lodge.
- Strong Badia the Free — Strong Sad's extended name as king of Bleak House is "His Lordship 'King' Coolberius Strong Sad Allan Poe the First".
- Marzipan's Answering Machine Version 16.2 — Bubs describes Marzipan as sounding "fat, depressing, and Allan Poe" as a reaction to Strong Sad's answering machine recording.
- Doomy Tales of the Macabre — The book's writing resembles that of his poetry.
- @StrongBadActual — Strong Bad posts a quote about the death of Flash, attributed to "Strong Sad Allen Poe".
- The Homestar Runner Enters the Spooky Woods — Strong Bad refers to Strong Sad as "a pallid bust of Pallas", which echoes a line from Poe's poem, The Raven.
