Gumption is a quality frequently mentioned in the Homestar Runner universe, often at unexpected times.

- Debut: Email pizzaz — Strong Bad says the secret to his pizzaz is the three Gs: gumption, gum, and gargle.
- Strong Badia the Free — Strong Bad says Marzipan would like it if Homestar showed some gumption and made his own bad decisions.
- Donut Unto Others — In an attempt to get The King of Town to buy his doughnuts, Homestar says he has grit, gumption, and an adorable speech impediment.
- 79 Seconds Left — Homestar Runner and Strong Sad participate in the Wet Knee Gumption Club.
- Characters from Yonder Website — The plot revolves around Character 2 losing his gumption.
- @StrongBadActual tweet (27 Sep 2017) — Strong Bad introduces Characters from Yonder Website by inviting everyone to "find their lost gumption".
- @StrongBadActual tweet (26 Oct 2017) — Strong Bad links to a fan's picture of Faceless Megacorp edited to look like Homsar, and says Character 12 "left his gumption in the font suitcase".
- @StrongBadActual tweet (23 Jul 2018) — Strong Bad says "I'ma draw Reed Gumption or whatever his name is into a Teen Girl Squad!" when talking about a Trogdor reference in the show Big City Greens, whose creators have made a comic called Reed Gunther.
- Homestar Runner iMessage Stickers — An image shows a text conversation between Strong Bad and presumably Homestar, in which Strong Bad asks if Homestar fortook all the potatoes last night, to which Homestar replies that he "gumptioned" them.
