Homestar Runner invades the AJC masthead.
"'Toon Bros." is an article written for the The Atlanta Journal-Constitution by Jamie Gumbrecht. Interviewing The Brothers Chaps, their parents, and other fans, Gumbrecht provides an overview of the site. The article describes homestarrunner.com as "a Web sensation, with a cult following of more than 200,000 visitors a day".
Topics discussed include merchandising in the store, moving to a weekly schedule in 2002, and Strong Bad's popularity overshadowing both Homestar Runner and the brothers themselves.
Fun Facts
- Don Chapman remarked that the site could be "the Peanuts for the 21st century."
- The Brothers offer their favorite toons: Mike Chapman's favorite is Parsnips A-Plenty, Matt's favorite is Where's The Cheat?
- A few years later, Mike's favorite had become either Cheat Commandos...O's or Shopping For Danger while Matt's was the Peasant's Quest movie trailer or one of the Cheat Commandos toons.
- A poll on the article allowed readers to vote for their favorite character. With over 125,764 votes submitted, The Cheat leads with 60% of votes, Strong Bad is in a distant second with 21%, and The Poopsmith third with 12% of votes.
