That's a pretty long word!

At 36 letters, "fhqwhgadshgnsdhjsdbkhsdabkfabkveybvf" would be one of the longest words in the English language.

From: i love you

Arguments for:

  • It's a fun fact and an interesting Wikipedia article.
  • As I understand it, the purpose of a Wiki is to provide people with more information, not less.
  • No, it's not a real word, and yes, Strong Bad shortened it into a name, and yes, it was just somebody banging on a keyboard, but still! It's the magic of fhqwhgadshgnsdhjsdbkhsdabkfabkveybvf that cannot be denied. The critical aspect here is "would be" - it isn't, and won't be, but it could be. See?

Arguments against:

  • As written, the fact is technically true, but it's a real stretch to link the Wikipedia article to this toon.
  • The email author just banged on his keyboard for a while. Even Strong Bad shortened it to "fhqwhgads".
  • It isn't even a real word.
  • And "could bes" do not make good fun facts.

Additional comments:

  • It's tempting to quickly dismiss fun facts proposed for classic emails and toons, so please judge this fact objectively.
  • It is the purpose of a wiki to provide more information, but that info should be somewhat relevant. As it is, Strong Bad did not even take fhqwhgads for a word, but rather as a name. Therefore, it is two steps removed from the Wikipedia article: "If fhqwhgadshgnsdhjsdbkhsdabkfabkveybvf were a word, not a name, and if it were real, then it would be longer than these other long words." That just seems like too much of a jump.
  • If someone would put fhqwhgadshgnsdhjsdbkhsdabkfabkveybvf at that Wikipedia entry, and it wouldn't be delted after a few minutes, I'll change my vote.
