Shark-Tooth Bubs

MATT CHAPMAN: We were getting these stuffed animals of The Cheat made. To show us that they were the right people for the job, this company in Hong Kong made some little six-inch plush dolls of our characters. Most of them they got pretty good! And then... Bubs they just completely misinterpreted.

Shark-Tooth Bubs is a plush doll prototype of Bubs that sharply deviates from his character design. Rather than two mismatched eyes, one black and one blue with a white ring, he has two black eyes and a large protruding white-ringed horn; his teeth are pointed and shark-like rather than rectangular.

The plush toy was created by a company in Hong Kong, during the pre-production of the Kick The Cheat dolls. To demonstrate their ability to adapt The Cheat to three dimensions, the toy company produced sample plush dolls of Strong Bad, Homestar Runner, Marzipan, and Bubs (the first two of which have also been shown). Though the first three were created largely on-model, the manufacturer "misinterpreted pretty much everything" about Bubs's odd design, resulting in the inclusion of fangs and a horn.

Similar to other characters that originated as distortions of existing cast members (like Homsar or Senor Cardgage), Shark-Tooth Bubs is characterized with a particularly bizarre manner of speaking and often acts in a parody of typical Bubs roles. His voice is provided by Mike Chapman (rather than Matt Chapman, who provides Bubs's regular voice), in a similar fashion to his voice for Bubs in Powered by The Cheat cartoons.

Shark-Tooth Bubs almost exclusively appears in Puppet Stuff. He features in the bonus video Puppets on the Road on Disc Four of the strongbad_email.exe DVD. His first speaking appearance on the site was in Main Page 25. In Dangeresque: Puppet Squad, Shark-Tooth Bubs played a brief role as an unnamed bad guy; also in the Dangeresque series, he portrays Baron Darin Diamonocle in the Steam Trading Cards for Dangeresque: The Roomisode Triungulate (though neither he nor Diamonocle appear in the game proper). A Thnikkaman version of Shark-Tooth Bubs claimed he used to sell TVs.

Plush toys of Shark-Tooth Bubs were offered by Bubs as prizes at a ring toss game at Mount RidesPlace, USA.
