Quote of the Week

The Quote of the Week was a recurring feature that highlighted a soundbite from the Homestar Runner body of work. Quotes were selected from recently-released toons, outtakes not included in a toon's final release, or even exclusive clips. The Quote of the Week was hosted on the site's Main Pages, accessible from a Q button.

This feature first began on January 10, 2002, under the name "Quote of the day(or so)". Early versions of the quote of the week were presented via a "what's new?" oval button. From early 2004 through late 2009, the Quote of the Week was updated with near-weekly regularity, typically on Thursdays; the feature stopped updating regularly on October 22, 2009. After two more quotes in 2014, updates to this feature ceased altogether.

Since a major update to the site's backend on the last day of 2020, the "Q" button no longer functions on most main pages. As of May 5, 2025, the button functions on Main Page 22; however, it is rendered incorrectly and to the right of the page.

• Only one quote is hosted on the website, old versions were removed as their weekly replacement was added.
• On July 27, 2006, a "loading" box (pictured to the right) was implemented, presumably due to the audio file being much longer than typical weekly quotes. This loading box function was removed the following week, on August 3.

• When using a character head that hasn't been added yet, Homestar's head is used until the appropriate character's head is uploaded. This has happened several times.
