FLANSBURGH and LINNELL: {singing} He said...

PUPPET HOMESTAR: Mission control...

FLANSBURGH and LINNELL: He said...

PUPPET HOMESTAR: Don't ask me not to... go... {music ends}

LINNELL: He— wait, is that it?

FLANSBURGH: That's it.

LINNELL: Is that it?

FLANSBURGH: That's it. Okay, so—

LINNELL: Really short.

FLANSBURGH: So you just go three, four.

{Cut}

PUPPET HOMESTAR: Three, four!

FLANSBURGH and LINNELL: {singing} He said...

PUPPET HOMESTAR: Open mic night!

FLANSBURGH and LINNELL: He said...

PUPPET HOMESTAR: I forgot to bring my guitar! {music ends} I did. I left it on the bus. ...Guys?

FLANSBURGH: I like the Mission Control thing.

LINNELL: {laughs}

FLANSBURGH: We'll do drums too. Let's do it— We'll do the second one with drums.

LINNELL: With drums.

FLANSBURGH: Here we go. Here we go.

LINNELL: Yeah, yeah—

FLANSBURGH: With drums.

LINNELL: Yeah, yeah, bring the Mission Control back. That was strong.

FLANSBURGH: Fall back to Mission Control.

{Offscreen voice is present}

LINNELL: Open Mic Night—

FLANSBURGH: Yeah, both.

LINNELL: Yeah, you know, maybe, both!

FLANSBURGH: Best of both worlds. Here we go.

{Cut}

PUPPET HOMESTAR: Three, four!

FLANSBURGH and LINNELL: {singing} He said...

PUPPET HOMESTAR: Mission Control...

FLANSBURGH and LINNELL: He said...

PUPPET HOMESTAR: Open mic night! {music ends} Aahhh... "Open Mic Night at Mission Control". That's what I call that one.

• Mission Control refers to the Mission Operations Control Room (MOCR) located at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas.

Old Toons menu entry

• Mission Control is the "Lost Puppet Jam", apparently set to be released following Puppet Jam: Vitamins/Celebrities. A link to "Mission Control" appeared on the Toons menu on June 30, 2004, but led nowhere. On July 5, 2004, it was unceremoniously removed from the site. Then on July 8, 2005, it was released for viewing with the message on the main pages being "Lost Puppet Jam".
• Originally, the Toons menu said that Mission Control was 1:00 long, but on the current version of the site, it says it is 1:06.
• This, alongside sb_email 22, were the only cartoons to not go in chronological order on their respective menus. Instead, it went with the other Puppet Jams. This was later changed with the Post-Flash Site Update.
• The chords for the song are a simple "I, IV, ii, V" progression—G, C, Am, D, to be exact.
• The DVD version contains a few more seconds in which they decide to do the song with drums.
