Bubs Evolution

This page tracks the evolution of Bubs. His design has not changed much, most changes have been minor revisions and improvements to coloring or adjustments to his face.

Third design		April 2000 (or earlier)	A Jumping Jack Contest; Dancin' Bubs; A Jorb Well Done (silhouette)	Bubs has a more squat appearance, with broader shoulders, shorter arms, a stockier torso, and his head resting lower on his shoulders. He appears wider and shorter overall. The blue pupil in his right eye is off-centered, giving him a slightly cross-eyed appearance. His head is more oblong, with his mouth extending higher onto his face. He is colored darker overall and shading has been removed apart from on his head.

Bubs is now drawn with shadows and highlights, including a gleam in his left eye and special shading on his teeth; in some toons his legs are shaded as well. The colors of some outlines have been adjusted, most noticeably on his mouth. His voice sounds slightly more raspy, and his teeth are also a little lighter and move more freely when he talks. In various toons from do over onward, his belt curves around his stomach more.
Sixth design	This is the current design.	2007	Various toons from Happy Dethemberween; various Strong Bad Emails starting with nightlife	Bubs' arms are slightly shorter. His head is shaped slightly different. His shading has been adjusted, appearing variably lighter, darker, or nonexistent since virus. His belt curves around his legs in more toons now. His arms are animated in a different manner. Rather than bending on a single elbow joint, his entire arm moves in a smooth "bendy" curved manner as he gestures.
