It is common knowledge that the citizens of Free Country, USA are ecology-minded. They demonstrate this by committing or referencing the act of tree hugging. This phenomenon is sometimes referenced in Videlectrix video games, usually by narrators.

- Strong Sad's Lament — Homsar's evite to Strong Sad claims that "Most (all) of the live acts will be to hug a tree." Strong Sad also says that the last time Homsar invited him to something, he had to hug a tree.
