Quite a few characters, especially Strong Sad and Marzipan, have been shown to enjoy reading and writing poetry.

Appearances

• The Luau — Strong Sad reads Hawaiian prose at Marzipan's luau.
• Marzipan's Answering Machine Version 5.0 — While presumably drunk, Coach Z rambles on about being a poet. Later, after apologizing, he reasserts that he is a poet.
• Strong Sad's Lament — Strong Sad wrote on his February 28, 2003 post about his habit of writing poems. He keeps track of the number of poems he writes every month.
• Sensitive to Bees — Strong Bad sarcastically refers to Marzipan as the poet laureate.
• Halloween Fairstival — Strong Sad recites Haiku poetry, then Strong Bad tries.
• Email rock opera — Strong Bad mocks the email sender, Anonymous Contributor, by challenging them to write a poem or something without attributing it to themselves.
• Email rampage — Strong Sad, Marzipan, and Homsar take part in a poetry slam.
• Email love poems — Strong Bad (as Dr. Marvin Rubdown) and Homestar Runner teach a homeless romantic how to write love poems.
  • In an Easter egg, Strong Sad awaits with his "POEM TOME" hoping in vain for Strong Bad to call for his help.
• Baddest of the Bands — Strong Bad suggests poetry as one of the ways that Coach Z can impress Marzipan.
• Dangeresque 3: The Criminal Projective — Strong Bad mentions starting unruly mobs at Strong Sad's poetry readings.
  • 8-Bit is Enough — The episode starts where the previous one left off, and the line about mobs at Strong Sad's poetry readings is repeated.
• Doomy Tales of the Macabre — Strong Sad writes a macabre poem to get back at the rest of the cast for not inviting him to their Halloween parties.
• The House That Gave Sucky Tricks — The spooky announcer ends the toon reading a poem about Large Bean, before breaking down in laughter.
