The sounds are modeled after those in the Internet Channel (usually played on the Wii Remote's speaker), which normally do not play when scrolling over a button contained in a Flash file.

For instance, text in <a href="/index.php?title=Population:_Tire" title="Population: Tire">Population: Tire</a> is rewritten to refer to the Wii and the hitbox of the tire has been adjusted to "bounce" off the tip of the Wii "finger" cursor; in <a href="/index.php?title=Secret_Collect." title="Secret Collect.">Secret Collect</a>, the dot moves to follow the cursor rather than being controlled by arrow keys. Because the Internet Channel interprets Wii Remote motion as mouse movement, Viidelectrix games can also be played on a desktop computer using the mouse.

Viidelectrix is a series of Videlectrix games redesigned to be played on the Nintendo Wii console via the Internet Channel.

Gameplay

The Viidelectrix page is modeled after the main Wii Menu interface, with a grid of large "screen" icons used to select and start a game. The sounds are modeled after those in the Internet Channel (usually played on the Wii Remote's speaker), which normally do not play when scrolling over a button contained in a Flash file.

All of the games available on the Viidelectrix menu have been modified for use with the Wii Remote. For instance, text in Population: Tire is rewritten to refer to the Wii and the hitbox of the tire has been adjusted to "bounce" off the tip of the Wii "finger" cursor; in Secret Collect, the dot moves to follow the cursor rather than being controlled by arrow keys. Because the Internet Channel interprets Wii Remote motion as mouse movement, Viidelectrix games can also be played on a desktop computer using the mouse.

A Wii system update on October 10, 2007 added USB keyboard compatibility to the Internet Channel. This made it possible to play any of the standard Videlectrix games that required a keyboard on the Wii, not just the specially designed Viidelectrix games.

Available Games

Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People is promoted on the menu, with a "Coming soon to WiiWare" notice added on April 10, 2008 that was updated to "Out now on WiiWare" on August 11, 2008.

Trivia

  • On the Scrolling Shooter Games Menu, the link to the Viidelectrix menu was labelled "Wii Games" with the description "Old games made for Wii! Wave it all around!"
  • The menu has displayed "More to come" since 2007.
  • Despite the Videlectrix website (and by extension, this menu) being hosted on homestarrunner.com since 2017, the Scrolling Shooter Games Menu still led to the original URL (which is now a blank page) prior to its removal on December 31, 2020 for the post-Flash site update.
