Freebies, or free pieces of merchandise, were given away for a time with purchases made in the Yahoo Store.

Originally, the freebie received was based on the total amount of merchandise ordered, prior to shipping and handling charges. Gift certificate purchases were not eligible for freebies. The selection changed over time, hence why some dollar amounts are listed with multiple freebies.
As supplies dwindled, the method of distributing freebies changed. Beginning in October 2009, a "grab bag" system was implemented where a single random freebie would be given regardless of the order amount.
