Having trouble connecting to the WikiChat java applet?
Try the following steps:
- First off, check to see if you have a firewall. A lot of businesses, libraries, and schools use firewalls, and you may even have one at home.
- If you're sure you don't have a firewall (or the firewall isn't blocking you), then try switching to a different server. The Applet lets you pick between several different ones. Choose the one closest to you geographically.
- If that's not working, your browser may be having trouble loading the Applet. If you're using IE (Internet Explorer) 5.0 or above on Windows, click Tools > Internet Options, then click the Security tab. Click the Default Level button, or make sure it's grayed out. Then click the Privacy tab. Click the Default button there as well (or make sure it's grayed out). Next, click the Advanced Settings tab. On this tab, click the Restore Defaults button. Now close and reopen your browser, and try loading the Applet again.
