Why come only one girl?
The phrase "Why come...?" is commonly used in place of "How come?" or "Why?". The phrase originated in Smoak, a summer-themed comic drawn by Mike Chapman, Matt Chapman, and Craig Zobel in the summer of 1996.
Appearances
- Yearbook Character Page — The fact that Bubs runs his Concession Stand is suggested as "why come he's so fat."
- Pumpkin Carve-nival — The Cheat is asked to query Strong Mad "why come he didn't carve his pumpakin".
- Email FAQ — This FAQ addresses the question "Why come I don't get any updates? I signed up!"
- FAQ — This FAQ addresses the question "Why come the 'Joy of Painting' cartoon on the Toons menu don't work?"
- Bug In Mouth Disease — A TV narrator says, "And that's why come Shakespeare was so awesome."
- Why Come Only One Girl? — The phrase appears in the cartoon's name.
- Ever and More — Bubs says that not being able to fit in his lucky pants for almost ten years was "why come I'm in such a bad mood all the time!"
- FeedBurner Page — The update summary for "New Baby vs. Updates!" reads, "Why come we been such bad friends!"
