STRONG BAD: Ooh! Alphabet macaroni! {typing} The get up noise? Oh wait, you mean the Geddup Noise. This guy!

{Strong Bad gets up and sits down three times, making the noise each time}

STRONG BAD: {typing} Ahhh, what fun! But that's not even the real Geddup Noise. That's just his cousin, Chairscoot. {clears screen} No, the real Geddup noise split quite some time ago. Somewheres right around email 84,  Ol' Geddy got all big overseas. And then the phone calls started coming in.

{Cut to a close-up shot of Strong Bad. He is holding a phone.}

STRONG BAD: {into phone} Hello? What? Yes, no, yes.

{Zoom out to show that he's in his computer room. The text from email 84 (kids' book) is displayed on the screen of the Compy.}

STRONG BAD: It's for you. {tosses phone at stool}

{The Geddup Noise is heard. Cut back to the Lappy.}

STRONG BAD: {typing} And before I know it, every-freakin-body's talkin' about the Geddup Noise. {The Geddup Noise is heard over the last two words.}

{Cut to Coach Z and Bubs at the concession stand, which is now labeled "BUBSO'S CONCESSION STAND"}

COACH Z: Okay, now I got one Bubs-O. Who am I supposed to be? Aaaaooooroomah! Eeeeeeoooowree!

{Bubs cringes as Coach Z makes these off-key sounds}

BUBS: Is that supposed to be the Geddup Noise?

COACH Z: Hang on! Hang on! Let me switch my pitch up! Waaay-o! Waaaay-o!!

BUBS: {annoyed} Way-o, way-o? I'll be in the basement.

{The concession stand turns dark with only a yellow light shining from the top. Bubs slowly sinks into the basement, as if on an elevator.}

COACH Z: Way-o! Waaaay-o!

{Cut to the booOOM box, which holds a cassette tape labeled "Normal Bias"}

BOOOOM BOX (STRONG BAD'S MORNING TALK SHOW RADIO HOST VOICE): Hang on to your panties, people! {splat noise} Uh-oh, what's up? 'Cause we got the Geddup Noise {doing sound} all up in this piece! {Geddup Noise, followed by laughter} Oh, we got a live one! {old-timey automobile horn sounds}

{Cut to Strong Sad listening to the radio. He is wearing a black T-shirt that reads "This Is Not A The Geddup Noise T-Shirt".}

STRONG SAD: Oh, man. The Geddup Noise used to be cool.

{Cut to the set of The Show with Homestar}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: And as always, at center square, the get-up noise. {Pan to a wider shot. Nobody is seen standing next to him.} What do you say, Geddy? {The Geddup Noise is heard, followed by applause.} Now that is just special. But I'm afraid the correct answer was "way-o, way-o". {"WAY-O, WAY-O" appears on screen as Homestar says it. <ul><li> Clicking on Gavin at the beginning of the email still makes the <a href="/index.php?title=Lappy_486" title="Lappy 486">Lappy 486</a> respond with the ripple effect, as if the screen was being clicked on directly.
</li><li>Strong Bad says the "get up noise" is correctly the "geddup noise", even though at the end of <a href="/index.php?title=the_bet" title="the bet">the bet</a> he himself calls it the "get up noise".
</li><li>Marc's question is odd because the Geddup Noise appeared in three of the five previous emails (<a href="/index.php?title=boring_%28really%29" title="boring (really)">boring (really)</a>, <a href="/index.php?title=record_book" title="record book">record book</a>, and <a href="/index.php?title=lady...ing" title="lady...ing">lady...ing</a>).
</li><li>A get up noise like that is not even possible on carpet. Strong Bad's stool makes a noise as if it were scraping against tile or hardwood floor.

</li><li>Strong Bad claims to have lost count of emails at <a href="/index.php?title=website" title="website">#51</a> until he was notified in <a href="/index.php?title=flashback" title="flashback">flashback</a>, suggesting he would have to have looked up the email at which the Geddup noise got its phone call.

<p><b>MIKE:</b> <i>{while Gavin is on the Lappy}</i> Looks like we took a... long break after this— <i>before</i> this one, <i>{Matt chuckles}</i> not after this one.
</p><p><b>MATT:</b> We may have taken one <i>after</i> it too. <i>{pause}</i> Gavin— When Gavin shows up on your doorstep... <i>darkens</i> your doorstep... <i>{longer pause}</i> Talk about it, Mike.
</p><p><b>MIKE:</b> Uh... it's early in the morning for us today. <i>{Matt laughs}</i> It's our first commentary of the day.
</p><p><b>MATT:</b> Uh, so... people like to point out to us that he's clearly on shag carpeting—
</p><p><b>MIKE:</b> Yep.
</p><p><b>MATT:</b> —when it makes this noise.
</p><p><b>MIKE:</b> But when we first made the, uh, that noise, we hadn't shown the wide view of his computer yet.
</p><p><b>MATT:</b> Right.
</p><p><b>MIKE:</b> And so... we didn't think about that when we decided to put him on orange— burnt orange shag carpet.
</p><p><b>MATT:</b> There's no... there's no style guide. Or continuit— we don't have a continuity person working on set.
</p><p><b>MIKE:</b> <i>{laughs}</i>
</p><p><b>MATT:</b> Look it's "Bubso's" Concession Stand, if you can see up at the very tip top there.
</p><p><b>MIKE:</b> <i>{overlapping Matt}</i> I never noticed that, yeah. Or maybe "Bubs-8" or "Bubsu".
</p><p><b>MATT:</b> Yeah.
</p><p><b>MIKE:</b> It could be "Bubsu".
</p><p><b>MATT:</b> "Bubsu", is that like Suudsu?
</p><p><b>MIKE:</b> <i>{laughs}</i>
</p><p><b>MIKE:</b> Oh this was the—
</p><p><b>MATT:</b> <i>{overlapping Mike, imitating elevator noise}</i> Mhhwwaaooo...
</p><p><b>MIKE:</b> Have we ever done the basement again?
</p><p><b>MATT:</b> Uh, we've never made reference to it, no.
</p><p><b>MIKE:</b> Yeah, ok, <i>{trailing off}</i> I couldn't remember.
</p><p><b>MATT:</b> And uh, the time when— What happened when Homestar was in that box? Is that the Fall Float Parade, when Strong Mad runs off with it?
</p><p><b>MIKE:</b> Oh, with Bubs' Concession Stand?
</p><p><b>MATT:</b> Yeah, and he's just in that box. So, possibly underneath that box he was sitting on there's a secret elevator.
</p><p><b>MIKE:</b> <i>{laughing}</i> <i>{overlapping}</i> Theres a—
</p><p><i>{pause}</i>
</p><p><b>MATT:</b> Having—
</p><p><b>MIKE:</b> <i>{overlapping Matt, indistinguishable interjection}</i>
</p><p><b>MATT:</b> Go—
</p><p><b>MIKE:</b> Ah— I love "The Show".
</p><p><b>MATT:</b> Do you?
</p><p><b>MIKE:</b> I do. I think it just reminds me of the Match Game—
</p><p><b>MATT:</b> <i>{overlapping Mike, imitating the generic announcer}</i> That's right, Kevin.
</p><p><b>MATT:</b> Boardelectrix has, umm— what else is there? There's been a few.
</p><p><b>MIKE:</b> There's the—
</p><p><b>MATT:</b> What was the one from the Pom Pom... bonus email?
</p><p><b>MIKE:</b> Ohhh yeah....
</p><p><b>MATT:</b> "Family Resemblance", spelled wrong. <i>{pause}</i> This is a... good song.
</p><p><b>MIKE:</b> Ha!
</p><p><b>MATT:</b> We—
</p><p><b>MIKE:</b> Postal Service would be proud.
</p><p><b>MATT:</b> <i>{laughing}</i> Totally me doing my best— what's that guy's name, is that Ben Gibbard?
</p><p><b>MIKE:</b> I don't know.
</p><p><b>MATT:</b> Sam Beam. Sam Rockwell. <i>{pause}</i> Jim James. <i>{pause}</i> Oh, King of Town.
</p><p><i>{both laugh}</i>
</p><p><b>MATT:</b> The king booed him— he does that a lot.
</p><p><b>MIKE:</b> He's done that before, he answers himself.
</p><p><b>MATT:</b> Yeah.
</p><p><b>MIKE:</b> Or boos himself.
</p><p><i>{pause until The Teach appears}</i>
</p><p><b>MATT:</b> I like that this implies The Cheat wasn't on board. Like The Cheat was just like "Strong Bad, that's disgusting. No, I'm not gonna do some 'Geddup Noise' show with you." And he's like <i>{Strong Bad voice}</i> "All right, fine, we don't need— we don't need The Cheat. Strong Bad— Strong Mad, put on a blue sock." <i>{pause}</i> We came up with the Coches mountains— was that on a flight somewhere?
</p><p><b>MIKE:</b> Yeah.
</p><p><b>MATT:</b> I remember a <i>long</i> time ago, we were flying somewhere and it was going to be one of those, uh, you know, cut-into-the-middle-of-a-conversation situations.
</p><p><b>MIKE:</b> Right. Talking about snowboarding in the Coches.
</p><p><b>MATT:</b> Yeah.
</p><p><i>{long pause}</i>
</p><p><b>MATT:</b> Did you ever have a, uh, "This is not a Fugazi T-shirt"?
</p><p><b>MIKE:</b> I didn't.
</p><p><b>MATT:</b> Eh, I did not either.
</p><p><b>MIKE:</b> I was <i>too cool</i> to have a Fugazi T-Shirt.
</p><p><b>MATT:</b> Yeah. I had a "This is not a <i>This is not a Fugazi</i> — this is not a Fugazi... Fu— Fugayzi. <i>{pause}</i> Acts of rage...
</p><p><i>{pause until end}</i> <i>{microphone bumps}</i>
</p><p><b>MATT:</b> <i>{softly}</i> Was that all right?

Fun Facts
Explanations
* The lights are off and Gavin is shown on the Lappy because it had been 7 weeks since the previous Strong Bad Email.
** There was a similar occurrence of this in the email army.
* The label of the cassette in the booOOMbox, "Normal Bias", indicates the bias setting to be used when recording on it.
* "The Shows Stupid Home Edition" is a parody of popular game shows that give away home versions of their games as consolation prizes.
Trivia
* The labels on the disks in the floppy disk container read "low G man" and "axe of rage".
* This is another instance of Strong Bad smiling.
* The Cheat's indie-tronic remix of the geddup noise contains harmonies in the key of C major. C4 ("middle C" on a piano keyboard) and G3 are the approximate frequencies made by the geddup noise, itself.
* The YouTube description for this email is "Strong Bad explains what happened to the Geddup Noise."
Remarks
* Clicking on Gavin at the beginning of the email still makes the Lappy 486 respond with the ripple effect, as if the screen was being clicked on directly.
* Strong Bad says the "get up noise" is correctly the "geddup noise", even though at the end of the bet he himself calls it the "get up noise".
* Marc's question is odd because the Geddup Noise appeared in three of the five previous emails (boring (really), record book, and lady...ing).
* A get up noise like that is not even possible on carpet. Strong Bad's stool makes a noise as if it were scraping against tile or hardwood floor.
** The Brothers Chaps have mentioned this in the DVD commentary for "army".
** The noise seems to exist as an entity unto itself. It sounds without the stool even moving when Strong Bad throws over the phone, not to mention its sounding in the studio of The Show.
* Strong Bad claims to have lost count of emails at #51 until he was notified in flashback, suggesting he would have to have looked up the email at which the Geddup noise got its phone call.
** Strong Bad may have been aware of the number during the beginning of caffeine when his email song was "and now, coming in at numbah 91, it's email!"
* The Cheat's DJ rig doesn't appear to have a mixer, only turntables and amps.
** Although, there may be a mixer, or other equipment obscured by the table, because the turntable on the far right has audio cables that don't lead to any of the visible equipment.
** The positions of the left (white) and right (red) jacks are reversed on the turntables (or the cables have been plugged in backwards).
* Right before Homestar faints at the end, his body shakes, but the notepad he holds does not move.
* "The Teach" is an anagram for The Cheat.
* "Way-o" is a non-lexical vocable. Songs that use non-lexical vocables ("na na, la la la") take the number two spot on Strong Bad's bottom 10.
Goofs
* When Strong Bad is repeatedly getting up and sitting back down again, the laces on the back of his head should be visible while he is getting up.
* When Strong Bad is doing the Git Outcha Seat Sound, the yellow seat has only three legs.
* At the end, the words 'Lappy 486' are further to the left than usual.
* When Strong Bad takes the phone call, the disconnected telephone has no cord. When he passes it over to The Geddup Noise, however, a cord appears.
* When Coach Z is talking to Bubs, Bubs's arms do not have shining lines on them, however, they appear on the rest of his body.
Inside References
* The AM Morning "CRUDE" Crew was first heard in radio.
* Strong Bad uses a disconnected telephone.
* Boardelectrix also made Jurvy-Skat in Family Resemblence.
* The "The Show" board game has a Blender on it.
* Strong Bad says that the "Git Outcha Seat Sound" is everybody's favorite style.
* Coach Z's dance in the Easter egg is the "I'm Just Me" dance from record book.
* The synthesizer used for The Cheat's song in this email sounds the same as the one used for the Stinkoman 20X6 soundtrack.
* The hearts popping up around Homestar's head also happened when he "fell for Strong Bad" in do over.
* The dance Bubs does during the scene with The Cheat is a nod to the original Dancin' Bubs game, in which the same dance can be replicated.
* The King of Town boos himself.
* Strong Bad tells everybody to hang onto their panties.
* The announcer calls Homestar "Kevin".
Real-World References
* Strong Sad's "This Is Not A The Geddup Noise T-Shirt" T-shirt refers to Fugazi's "This Is Not A Fugazi T-Shirt" T-shirts.
* Strong Sad's "Corporate The Geddup Noise Still Sucks" shirt is akin to the shirt worn by the late Nirvana lead singer Kurt Cobain on the cover of Rolling Stone, which read "Corporate Magazines Still Suck", which was also referenced in Homestarloween Party in which Homestar (dressed up as Kurt Cobain) wore a shirt with the SST Records' slogan "Corporate Rock Still Sucks", which itself is a parody of the motto, "Corporate Rock Sucks".
* Lou Dobbs is a financial journalist who hosted Lou Dobbs Tonight for the Fox Business network. He previously spent many years working for CNN in the same capacity.
* Brent Musburger is a sports announcer who works for the ESPN family of networks.
* Homestar referring to the center square is a reference to the game show Hollywood Squares, where famous comics would often sit in the "center square" for long periods at a time.
* "Indietronic" is a musical genre that merges the methods of electronica with the broader context of indie music.
* "The Coches" may be a reference to Las Coches Mountain, located in the Sierra Madre Mountains.
Fast Forward
* The Cheat's Indie-tronic remix would later be heard on Pom Pom's cell phone in technology, as well as in Strong Badia the Free as background music at Club Technochocolate.
* The Coches Mountains are once again mentioned in looking old.
* Coach Z again imitated sound effects (with similar results) in Happy Hallow-day.
* Bubs descends into his basement again in winter pool.
* Bubs' and Pom Pom's respective dance moves appear in disconnected and nightlife, respectively.
Alternate Versions
* This email was originally going to be about kitchen appliances before The Brothers Chaps took it in a decidedly different direction. See the alternate versions at Sbemail 136 Alternate Versions.
DVD Version
* The DVD version features hidden creators' commentary. To access it, switch the DVD player's audio language selection while watching.
Commentary Transcript
MIKE: {while Gavin is on the Lappy} Looks like we took a... long break after this— before this one, {Matt chuckles} not after this one.
MATT: We may have taken one after it too. {pause} Gavin— When Gavin shows up on your doorstep... darkens your doorstep... {longer pause} Talk about it, Mike.
MIKE: Uh... it's early in the morning for us today. {Matt laughs} It's our first commentary of the day.
MATT: Uh, so... people like to point out to us that he's clearly on shag carpeting—
MIKE: Yep.
MATT: —when it makes this noise.
MIKE: But when we first made the, uh, that noise, we hadn't shown the wide view of his computer yet.
MATT: Right.
MIKE: And so... we didn't think about that when we decided to put him on orange— burnt orange shag carpet.
MATT: There's no... there's no style guide. Or continuit— we don't have a continuity person working on set.
MIKE: {laughs}
MATT: Look it's "Bubso's" Concession Stand, if you can see up at the very tip top there.
MIKE: {overlapping Matt} I never noticed that, yeah. Or maybe "Bubs-8" or "Bubsu".
MATT: Yeah.
MIKE: It could be "Bubsu".
MATT: "Bubsu", is that like Suudsu?
MIKE: {laughs}
MIKE: Oh this was the—
MATT: {overlapping Mike, imitating elevator noise} Mhhwwaaooo...
MIKE: Have we ever done the basement again?
MATT: Uh, we've never made reference to it, no.
MIKE: Yeah, ok, {trailing off} I couldn't remember.
MATT: And uh, the time when— What happened when Homestar was in that box? Is that the Fall Float Parade, when Strong Mad runs off with it?
MIKE: Oh, with Bubs' Concession Stand?
MATT: Yeah, and he's just in that box. So, possibly underneath that box he was sitting on there's a secret elevator.
MIKE: {laughing} {overlapping} Theres a—
{pause}
MATT: Having—
MIKE: {overlapping Matt, indistinguishable interjection}
MATT: Go—
MIKE: Ah— I love "The Show".
MATT: Do you?
MIKE: I do. I think it just reminds me of the Match Game—
MATT: {overlapping Mike, imitating the generic announcer} That's right, Kevin.
MATT: Boardelectrix has, umm— what else is there? There's been a few.
MIKE: There's the—
MATT: What was the one from the Pom Pom... bonus email?
MIKE: Ohhh yeah....
MATT: "Family Resemblance", spelled wrong. {pause} This is a... good song.
MIKE: Ha!
MATT: We—
MIKE: Postal Service would be proud.
MATT: {laughing} Totally me doing my best— what's that guy's name, is that Ben Gibbard?
MIKE: I don't know.
MATT: Sam Beam. Sam Rockwell. {pause} Jim James. {pause} Oh, King of Town.
{both laugh}
MATT: The king booed him— he does that a lot.
MIKE: He's done that before, he answers himself.
MATT: Yeah.
MIKE: Or boos himself.
{pause until The Teach appears}
MATT: I like that this implies The Cheat wasn't on board. Like The Cheat was just like "Strong Bad, that's disgusting. No, I'm not gonna do some 'Geddup Noise' show with you." And he's like {Strong Bad voice} "All right, fine, we don't need— we don't need The Cheat. Strong Bad— Strong Mad, put on a blue sock." {pause} We came up with the Coches mountains— was that on a flight somewhere?
MIKE: Yeah.
MATT: I remember a long time ago, we were flying somewhere and it was going to be one of those, uh, you know, cut-into-the-middle-of-a-conversation situations.
MIKE: Right. Talking about snowboarding in the Coches.
MATT: Yeah.
{long pause}
MATT: Did you ever have a, uh, "This is not a Fugazi T-shirt"?
MIKE: I didn't.
MATT: Eh, I did not either.
MIKE: I was too cool to have a Fugazi T-Shirt.
MATT: Yeah. I had a "This is not a This is not a Fugazi — this is not a Fugazi... Fu— Fugayzi. {pause} Acts of rage...
{pause until end} {microphone bumps}
MATT: {softly} Was that all right?

Transcript

{Cut to the Lappy. Gavin is crawling on the screen. The lights are out. Strong Bad is not present. The lights suddenly turn on and Gavin crawls away.}

STRONG BAD: {Walks in} A little bit of email. Some you-and-me-mail. {begins reading}

{Reads "marc baroni AZ" as "macaroni from A to Z"}

STRONG BAD: Ooh! Alphabet macaroni! {typing} The get up noise? Oh wait, you mean the Geddup Noise. This guy!

{Strong Bad gets up and sits down three times, making the noise each time}

{Cut to a close-up shot of Strong Bad. He is holding a phone.}

STRONG BAD: {into phone} Hello? What? Yes, no, yes.

{Zoom out to show that he's in his computer room. The text from email 84 (kids' book) is displayed on the screen of the Compy.}

STRONG BAD: It's for you. {tosses phone at stool}

{The Geddup Noise is heard. Cut back to the Lappy.}

STRONG BAD: {typing} And before I know it, every-freakin-body's talkin' about the Geddup Noise. {The Geddup Noise is heard over the last two words.}

{Cut to Coach Z and Bubs at the concession stand, which is now labeled "BUBSO'S CONCESSION STAND"}

COACH Z: Okay, now I got one Bubs-O. Who am I supposed to be? Aaaaooooroomah! Eeeeeeoooowree!

{Bubs cringes as Coach Z makes these off-key sounds}

BUBS: Is that supposed to be the Geddup Noise?

COACH Z: Hang on! Hang on! Let me switch my pitch up! Waaay-o! Waaaay-o!!

BUBS: {annoyed} Way-o, way-o? I'll be in the basement.

{The concession stand turns dark with only a yellow light shining from the top. Bubs slowly sinks into the basement, as if on an elevator.}

COACH Z: Way-o! Waaaay-o!

{Cut to the booOOM box, which holds a cassette tape labeled "Normal Bias"}

BOOOOM BOX (STRONG BAD'S MORNING TALK SHOW RADIO HOST VOICE): Hang on to your panties, people! {splat noise} Uh-oh, what's up? 'Cause we got the Geddup Noise {doing sound} all up in this piece! {Geddup Noise, followed by laughter} Oh, we got a live one! {old-timey automobile horn sounds}

{Cut to Strong Sad listening to the radio. He is wearing a black T-shirt that reads "This Is Not A The Geddup Noise T-Shirt".}

STRONG SAD: Oh, man. The Geddup Noise used to be cool.

{Cut to the set of The Show with Homestar}

The "wrong answer" music plays.} But you will receive some fine parting gifts.

{Cut to a copy of The Show's Stupid Home Edition}

FEW PRIZES!
THE SHOW! STUPID HOME EDITION
- choose to recite a list!
- ask questions, demand answers
- mostly play by oneself
                    boardelectrix

ANNOUNCER: That's right, Kevin. The Geddup Noise will receive a year's supply of our home game!

{Cut back to Strong Bad at the Lappy}

STRONG BAD: Even The Cheat was able to snag a piece of the Geddup Pie with his indie-tronic remix.

{CD of "DJ Teh Cheat - The Geddup Noise" appears; scene switches to Club Technochocolate, where The Cheat is spinning his own record. Bubs and Pom Pom put their weight on it. The song includes the Geddup Noise played over and over.}

SINGER:
The Geddup Noooooise.
The Geddup Noooise. (Geddup Geddup Geddup!)
The Geddup Noooooise. (Geddup Geddup Geddup!)
The Geddup Noooise.

STRONG BAD: {voiceover} And before long, a bunch of cheap knock-offs started popping up.

{Cut to the King of Town, seated in a wooden chair at a table in his castle}

KING OF TOWN: Hello, America! It's the Standing Up Noise! {The "Standing Up Noise" logo appears, and the King of Town stands up; the chair makes a deep imitation Geddup Noise.} Boooo-ooo! {The King looks over to his right.}

{Cut to the Brothers Strongs' basement. Strong Bad is seated in a yellow chair}

STRONG BAD: {to screen, smiling} And now, everybody's favorite style, the Git Outcha Seat Sound! {The Homsar walking sound accompanies the "Git Outcha Seat" logo. Strong Bad gets up from a yellow seat and makes a low-pitched imitation Geddup Noise.} Isn't that right, the Teach?

{Strong Mad's left hand appears from behind the sofa. He has a blue sock on his hand with The Cheat-like features drawn on it.}

THE TEACH (STRONG MAD): BLUE SOCK! BLUE SOCK!

{Return to the Lappy}

STRONG BAD: {typing, sounding embarrassed} Heh heh. That was just not, nu-, anything. So after that, Geddy bought a house in the Coches and now he just snowboards all day. He still pops up here and there in the odd, or sometimes very odd celebrity endorsement.

{Cut to a shot of Hamburger Shampoo. The Geddup Noise plays in the background.}

ANNOUNCER: Geddup Noise Approved!

"Like a backyard BBQ...on your hair!"
            hamburger
             SHAMPOO

{Cut to Strong Sad watching the Hamburger Shampoo commercial. He is wearing a white T-shirt that reads "Corporate The Geddup Noise Still Sucks".}

STRONG SAD: Frickin' sell-out.

{Cut back to the Lappy again}

STRONG BAD: {typing} So I suppose that more than adequately answers your question, Shoshoni Macaroni.

{Pan out to a medium shot. Homestar is kneeling to Strong Bad's right, holding a notepad.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {to stool} Excuse me sir, could I trouble you for an autograph?

STRONG BAD: Homestar, you know that's not even the original Geddup Noise. It's his cousin...

HOMESTAR RUNNER: I know, Chairscoot. He's my generation's Geddup Noise! Uh, could you make it out to Lou Dobbs?

STRONG BAD: That's it, I'm outta here. {Walks offscreen to stage right, making Chairscoot's noise}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Ah! There it is! It's positively dreamy! {little hearts float up out of Homestar's head and pop like bubbles} Ohhhh! {Homestar faints. He knocks the stool which makes Chairscoot's noise one more time.}

{The Paper comes down.}

Easter Eggs

  • Click "Coches" when Strong Bad is talking about the celebrity endorsements before the cutaway to Strong Sad to see a postcard.
{The postcard's background is a snowy mountain range with the text Coches Mountains in the top left corner. Monkey D is up front wearing a winter hat, oven mitt and an I ♥ The Teach shirt. Along the bottom is the text Monkey D awaits you.}
  • At the end, click on the stool to see additional footage of The Cheat's ambient mix in Club Technochocolate.
{Cut back to The Cheat, Pom Pom and Bubs dancing at Club Technochocolate. Coach Z enters and dances across the room. Then Strong Mad's sock puppet appears up front for a bit and lipsyncs the words "geddup geddup geddup", then disappears and reappears to the left where it lipsyncs again, and then goes back up front, where it lipsyncs one more time and then "dances" to the music. Then it fades to black and the Geddup Noise is heard.}
  • Click on the notepad and it'll bring up autograph #1:
My Pal
Lou Dobbs,
Stay real!
Chairscoot

Click on it again and it'll bring up autograph #2:

Lou Dobbs,
you been
working out?
- Brent Musburger

Fun Facts

Explanations

  • The lights are off and Gavin is shown on the Lappy because it had been 7 weeks since the previous Strong Bad Email.
    • There was a similar occurrence of this in the email army.
  • The label of the cassette in the booOOMbox, "Normal Bias", indicates the bias setting to be used when recording on it.
  • "The Show's Stupid Home Edition" is a parody of popular game shows that give away home versions of their games as consolation prizes.

Trivia

  • The labels on the disks in the floppy disk container read "low G man" and "axe of rage".
  • This is another instance of Strong Bad smiling.
  • The Cheat's indie-tronic remix of the geddup noise contains harmonies in the key of C major. C4 ("middle C" on a piano keyboard) and G3 are the approximate frequencies made by the geddup noise, itself.
  • The YouTube description for this email is "Strong Bad explains what happened to the Geddup Noise."

Remarks

  • Clicking on Gavin at the beginning of the email still makes the Lappy 486 respond with the ripple effect, as if the screen was being clicked on directly.
  • Strong Bad says the "get up noise" is correctly the "geddup noise", even though at the end of the bet he himself calls it the "get up noise".
  • Marc's question is odd because the Geddup Noise appeared in three of the five previous emails (boring (really), record book, and lady...ing).
  • A get up noise like that is not even possible on carpet. Strong Bad's stool makes a noise as if it were scraping against tile or hardwood floor.
  • Strong Bad claims to have lost count of emails at #51 until he was notified in flashback, suggesting he would have to have looked up the email at which the Geddup noise got its phone call.
    • Strong Bad may have been aware of the number during the beginning of caffeine when his email song was "and now, coming in at numbah 91, it's email!"
  • The Cheat's DJ rig doesn't appear to have a mixer, only turntables and amps.
    • Although, there may be a mixer, or other equipment obscured by the table, because the turntable on the far right has audio cables that don't lead to any of the visible equipment.
    • The positions of the left (white) and right (red) jacks are reversed on the turntables (or the cables have been plugged in backwards).
  • Right before Homestar faints at the end, his body shakes, but the notepad he holds does not move.
  • "The Teach" is an anagram for The Cheat.
  • "Way-o" is a non-lexical vocable. Songs that use non-lexical vocables ("na na, la la la") take the number two spot on Strong Bad's bottom 10.

Goofs

  • When Strong Bad is repeatedly getting up and sitting back down again, the laces on the back of his head should be visible while he is getting up.
  • When Strong Bad is doing the Git Outcha Seat Sound, the yellow seat has only three legs.
  • At the end, the words 'Lappy 486' are further to the left than usual.
  • When Strong Bad takes the phone call, the disconnected telephone has no cord. When he passes it over to The Geddup Noise, however, a cord appears.
  • When Coach Z is talking to Bubs, Bubs's arms do not have shining lines on them, however, they appear on the rest of his body.

Inside References

  • The AM Morning "CRUDE" Crew was first heard in radio.
  • Strong Bad uses a disconnected telephone.
  • Boardelectrix also made Jurvy-Skat in Family Resemblence.
  • The "The Show" board game has a Blender on it.
  • Strong Bad says that the "Git Outcha Seat Sound" is everybody's favorite style.
  • Coach Z's dance in the Easter egg is the "I'm Just Me" dance from record book.
  • The synthesizer used for The Cheat's song in this email sounds the same as the one used for the Stinkoman 20X6 soundtrack.
  • The hearts popping up around Homestar's head also happened when he "fell for Strong Bad" in do over.
  • The dance Bubs does during the scene with The Cheat is a nod to the original Dancin' Bubs game, in which the same dance can be replicated.
  • The King of Town boos himself.
  • Strong Bad tells everybody to hang onto their panties.
  • The announcer calls Homestar "Kevin".

Real-World References

  • Strong Sad's "This Is Not A The Geddup Noise T-Shirt" T-shirt refers to Fugazi's "This Is Not A Fugazi T-Shirt" T-shirts.
  • Strong Sad's "Corporate The Geddup Noise Still Sucks" shirt is akin to the shirt worn by the late Nirvana lead singer Kurt Cobain on the cover of Rolling Stone, which read "Corporate Magazines Still Suck", which was also referenced in Homestarloween Party in which Homestar (dressed up as Kurt Cobain) wore a shirt with the SST Records' slogan "Corporate Rock Still Sucks", which itself is a parody of the motto, "Corporate Rock Sucks".
  • Lou Dobbs is a financial journalist who hosted Lou Dobbs Tonight for the Fox Business network. He previously spent many years working for CNN in the same capacity.
  • Brent Musburger is a sports announcer who works for the ESPN family of networks.
  • Homestar referring to the center square is a reference to the game show Hollywood Squares, where famous comics would often sit in the "center square" for long periods at a time.
  • "Indietronic" is a musical genre that merges the methods of electronica with the broader context of indie music.
  • "The Coches" may be a reference to Las Coches Mountain, located in the Sierra Madre Mountains.

MIKE: {laughs}

MIKE: {laughs}

{pause}

MATT: Having—

MIKE: {overlapping Matt, indistinguishable interjection}

{both laugh}

MATT: The king booed him— he does that a lot.

MIKE: He's done that before, he answers himself.

MATT: Yeah.

MIKE: Or boos himself.

{pause until The Teach appears}

MATT: Yeah.

{long pause}

{pause until end} {microphone bumps}

MATT: {softly} Was that all right?
