Stylized Character Designs

Stylized character designs are intentional variations to the normal character models. The Brothers Chaps will play with line weights, colors and proportions to achieve a unique look for specific cartoons. These are not part of the gradual evolution of the characters, but rather a fresh experimental design.

	Super NES was drawn in Mario Paint. The colors were very odd, in part due to the color limitation. Pom Pom has a white head in one scene and occasionally a green body, Strong Sad is flesh-colored and gray, and Strong Mad is wider than ever. What's more, Strong Bad is given teeth and, in one scene, a green tongue.	1996
	The King of Town DVD had its own unique drawing style, which was slightly more colorful and cartoonish. While the King of Town and the Poopsmith's designs in this toon can be counted as part of their evolution, Homestar Runner looked very different and Pom Pom had some proportional issues.	2000
	A weird, distorted Strong Bad with no shading and one arm. Appeared in Dancin' Bubs.	2000
	In The Reddest Radish, the characters were paper cut-outs that looked like they were colored in with crayons.	2000
	In In Search Of The Yello Dello, the characters were drawn with bright colors and no shading. The proportions were also very inconsistent, especially with Homestar Runner and Coach Z. According to the DVD commentary for the Yello Dello storyboards, this is because Matt drew the storyboards very quickly and messily. However, Mike ended up liking those versions of the characters better, and so they were kept that way in the final cartoon.	2000
	A weird, distorted Poopsmith who looks bigger than normal. His big eye is white instead of black, and his small eye is black instead of white. He has an extra hair on his head. He has a small amount of whatsit on his gloves. The wood on his shovel is brown instead of yellow. Appeared in A Jorb Well Done. A likely explanation for this is that TBC altered his head to resemble a Pom head, due to all other characters in the slideshow having Pom heads.	2001

	An exaggerated cartoony Homestar and Doreauxgard, as seen in the title card for "The Homestar Runner and Doreauxgard Show" from an Easter egg in lackey. It was also seen in Main Page 25 on a curtain when you hover over "Characters". A similar version is later seen in The Actions You Can Do.	2004
	Strong Bad and The Cheat drawn in a cartoony style. Notice that again, Strong Bad has a green tongue. This version of Strong Bad first appeared in lackey, while this version of The Cheat appeared in pop-up. 	In old comics, the characters in the The Castlefunnies strips were depicted with small eyes and large noses, among other deformed and odd features.	2004
	On the cover of the FAQ, the characters look like they were colored in crayon, but at the same time exhibit shading. Note that this picture was not created by The Brothers Chaps, but by a fan, who then posted their picture on DeviantArt.	2005

	In Most in the Graveyard, the Carnivorous Undead Sheep and Homsar are drawn with thick, black outlines, rather than the normal outlines.	2008
	During the SBASAF educational film, What's your Captainface?, shown during Career Day, Strong Bad and The Cheat (as Space Captainface and Strap Coopmore) are drawn in an extremely cartoony style. Additionally, Strong Bad has visible eyeballs, teeth and cleft chin.	2009

	The Stinkoman 20X6 Intro Cinematic is done is a slick anime style that gives the characters various extra details such as giving Stinkoman more defined musculature and giving Pan Pan longer limbs with elbows and knees.	2020
