Despite the substantial number of budding actors in [[Free Country, USA]], many of the main [[Characters|characters]] appear to have '''poor acting''' abilities. In many commercials and stage-productions, the actors talk awkwardly and with little enthusiasm, and may occasionally laugh unconvincingly. On some occasions, even [[The Brothers Chaps]] themselves will indulge in some deliberately poor acting.

* [[Fluffy Puff Commercial]] — While filming the [[Fluffy Puff Marshmallows]] commercial, [[Homestar Runner]] mispronounces and later forgets his lines.
* [[first time here|First Time Here]] — Homestar once again forgets his lines and goes through 126 takes before [[Strong Bad]] bursts in to mock Homestar for being unable to remember his lines.
* [[A Decemberween Pageant]] — Most of the characters speak flatly throughout the pageant.
** Homestar is unaware that he is on stage when he talks to [[Marzipan]] at the beginning.
** [[Bubs]] mishears one of Strong Bad's lines and later [[G|mispronounces]] the word "[[Gold|gold]]".
** Strong Bad is later "attacked" by a squid and reacts unenthusiastically.
** In one scene, Strong Bad, Bubs, and Marzipan attempt to ad lib while [[Strong Sad]] prepares for his line, but do so with much difficulty.
* Email [[suntan]] — Strong Sad reads his [[Ab-Abber 2000]] testimonial with a slow, stilted tone, like he's reading off a teleprompter. He then talks to Strong Bad off camera while it's still recording.

** Bubs as [[Baron Darin Diamonocle]] mispronounces "Dangeresque" as "Danger-skew".
* [[Cheat Commandos (toon)|Cheat Commandos]] — When Strong Bad provides the voices of each [[Cheat Commandos|Cheat Commando]] toy, he speaks haltingly and unenthusiastically.

** [[Coach Z]] misses his cue, speaks awkwardly on the phone and manages to muddle his line before turning to the camera and asking "How was that?"
** Strong Bad and Homestar seem to forget their lines during the racquetball scene, requiring them to ad lib, and laugh unconvincingly near the end of the movie.
* [[Marzipan's Answering Machine Version 9.2]] — Homestar does poor imitations of Marzipan, Strong Bad, Coach Z, Strong Sad, and [[Homestar Runner and Homestar Runner's Relationship|himself]] after he accidentally leaves a bad message on Marzipan's [[PhoneTime XL8|answering machine]].

** All three characters break out of their parts and speak to each other normally throughout the tutorial.
* Email [[being mean]] — [[Drama Club|Coach Z's Nicetown Players]], consisting of Coach Z, Marzipan, and Strong Mad, act poorly during their sketch about being nice; many of their lines are non sequiturs.
** Strong Mad misses his cue and later breaks character to tease Coach Z.
* [[Dangeresque 3: The Criminal Projective]] — The clichés and unconvincing deliveries prevalent in the first two ''Dangeresque'' movies are still common.
** Strong Bad accidentally starts to answer the door before Marzipan knocks.
** Marzipan breaks character to criticize Strong Bad's explanation of the formula's origin and later again to remind him that she did not want to get her hair cut for the role.
** Strong Bad has to call Marzipan by her real name instead of her [[Cutesy Buttons|character]]'s name in order for her to notice his distraction.
** Bubs continues to constantly mispronounce Dangeresque.
** Bubs also mispronounces [[Perducci]] as "Per-dookie".
** Homestar as [[Uzi Bazooka]] breaks character during the threat video to ask if he should be evil and to order a [[Melonade|melonade]].
** Coach Z breaks character to say that the resolution to the kidnapping case was dumb.
** Strong Bad never actually tells Senor Cardgage that he is in a movie or gives him a script, and then pretends that what Senor Cardgage is saying is coherent to the movie.
** Strong Bad tells the King of Town to be more emotional when crying over losing the architectural plans to Dangeresque.
** Strong Bad breaks out in laughter when he is supposed to threaten a [[Cross-dressing|cross-dressing]] [[The Poopsmith|Poopsmith]].
** Senor Cardgage walks away when he is supposed to be [[Death|dead]].
** Marzipan is seen walking away after "jumping out of a helicopter."
** Homestar has trouble trying to determine where to put emphasis in the statement "Come and get him!"
** When Strong Sad plays the Irish [[The Informant|informant]], he throws in an irrelevant quote from ''Dangeresque 1: Dangeresque, Too?'' because he hasn't gotten the latest script update.
** Marzipan accidentally calls Strong Bad by his real name instead of his character's name.
** In his final scene, the King of Town breaks character and walks off, telling the crew to call his agent if they need him.
** [[The Cheat]] hesitates to say his own character's name ([[Craig]]), although this may be for dramatic effect.
* [[Coach Z's 110%]] — For the duration of the commercial, Coach Z speaks in a "more toned-down voice" than usual, thus sounding very static and detached.
** Strong Bad pauses awkwardly during his prerecorded endorsement, and says his line with little enthusiasm.
** In one scene, Homestar acts exhausted and out of breath after a sports game, before suddenly switching to a more enthusiastic manner to advertise the video.
* [[A Death Defying Decemberween]] — Homestar, Coach Z and Bubs make a cheaply made holiday special in a [[Holiday-Themed Set|holiday-themed set]].
** In addition to the badly-made set and canned laughter, the characters speak in overstressed voices, making them sound fake, and Homestar and Bubs laugh unenthusiastically.
** Coach Z and Bubs can be seen throwing the "snow" outside the window and Coach Z's arm appears in the shot as he pulls away the cup of Hot Jones.
* [[Sbemailiarized!]] — Strong Bad's acting in the Sbemailiarized toons is very forced, particularly during the first example shown.
* Email [[hremail 3184]] — While waiting for Strong Sad's [[Pop-Tart]] to [[Explosions|explode]], Strong Bad pretends to eat [[Cereal|cereal]] from a bowl (empty, no less) and describes the "cereal" as "sooooo cerealy".

* [[Dangeresque Puppet Squad: The Hot Jones Hijack]] — Homestar Runner as [[Stingy Relenque]] breaks character to insist that his lines are totally [[French]]. He also adds lines such as "I'm still falling!" and "I can't believe I bounced!" in reference to his figurine stunt double.
* [[Trogdor!! The Board Game (video)|Trogdor!! The Board Game Video]] — Strong Bad and Homestar Runner act out a game of [[Trogdor!! The Board Game]] in a flat monotone.
